What Are Schedule Gaps?

If no clinician is on call for a service line and a facility at a given time when on-call coverage is required, this is a schedule gap.

Why Identify Schedule Gaps?

Service line owners and schedulers need to see schedule gaps so that they can ensure that there is coverage for all on-call shifts, at every facility, for every service line.

Who Can Identify Schedule Gaps?

The administrator of your TeleTracking IQ® platform assigns people who are responsible for schedules to the role of Service Line Owner. If you have been assigned the Service Line Owner role, you can identify schedule gaps for service lines that are associated with facilities that an administrator associated with your user profile. A service line owner can identify a gap for any service line as long as the selected facility is associated with that service line and with their user profile. For example, if you are a service line owner for Cardiology, you can also identify gaps in coverage for other service lines, such as Obstetrics, as long as the facility is associated with your user profile and the service line is associated with the facility.

Are There Any Restrictions?

You can only view schedule gaps for:

  • Facilities that an administrator has associated with your user profile.
  • Service lines that an administrator has associated with those facilities.

How to Identify Schedule Gaps

  1. Go to On Call > Gaps to display the Gaps page.

Note:

To see gaps, you must select a service line and at least one facility.

  1. In the Service Line list, select the service line you want to see gaps for. Only service lines for facilities that are associated with your user profile are available to select.
  2. In the Facilities list, begin to type the name of a facility (for example, ABC Hospital)  and then select the facility from the list that appears. Only facilities associated with the chosen service line are available to select.
  1. View the first column of the Gaps page to see times when there is no on-call clinician coverage for the selected facilities and service lines.

  1. In the row that displays the time that has no on-call clinician coverage, select the Create Shift link to begin to create a shift for that time. For information about how to create a shift, see Create Shifts.
